VDI LabOS · WHL
Private executive deal room · Werner Harmonic Labs

A governed operating layer around VDI’s laboratory—and a connected care network around the pet.

VDI LabOS is a pre-discovery product and implementation proposal. It connects specimen operations, laboratory execution, clinical governance and clinic activation. Pets Plug remains the separate owner-approved Pet Passport and provider-network layer. The two cooperate through a minimum-necessary governed boundary without pretending to know VDI’s private configuration before formal discovery.

The opportunity

VDI is more than a test menu.

The public journey spans clinic acquisition, kits, specimen preparation, shipment, laboratory receipt, results, veterinarian support, partner products and repeat testing. The opportunity is to connect those stages into one measurable and governable operating model.

VDI LabOS

Begin with control and visibility—not a reckless system replacement.

The first architecture decision is whether WHL should overlay existing systems, own selected laboratory transactions, or combine a commercial LIMS with WHL’s differentiated network, logistics and governance layers.

Control-plane overlay

Keep current systems and connect identifiers, events, exceptions and executive visibility.

Focused VDI core

Build selected requisition, accession, specimen, worklist, result and reporting functions where current tools are insufficient.

Commercial-LIMS hybrid

Use mature transaction software and place WHL’s kit, carrier, AI, network and control-plane differentiation around it.

The larger ecosystem

Different participants control different parts of the journey.

The model works only when authority, consent and product ownership stay explicit.

Werner Harmonic Labs

Owns the reusable platform, governed workflow patterns, integrations and implementation.

VDI Laboratory

Retains complete authority over laboratory methods, acceptance, results, review and reports.

Pets Plug

Provides Pet Passport, owner consent, provider relationships and the minimum approved care projection.

Veterinary clinics

Receive a free verified profile and VDI connection; deeper customer-relationship tools are a proposed monthly subscription.

Smoochie Pooch

A proposed first business-partner pitch for loyalty, Passport adoption, Openings and objective Care Signals—not an existing agreement.

Convention company

A potential physical acquisition channel for measurable clinic activation and attribution.

The network flywheel

VDI helps activate clinics; clinics and pet businesses make Pets Plug useful; Pets Plug creates continuity around the pet.

Free clinic network layer

Claimable verified profile, locations, collection capabilities, approved VDI relationship and basic referral visibility.

Paid monthly clinic layer

Customer Passport connections, owner-authorized intake, communications, reminders, report continuity, branded engagement and analytics.

Smoochie recommendation path

A proposed Smoochie partner could recommend a participating veterinarian or collection clinic and identify VDI as a preferred specialty lab for agreed categories. The veterinarian still determines testing.

Candidate pilots—not predetermined answers

Discovery determines the first build.

Phil, Werner and Peter consider the Digital Specimen Spine a strong first-build hypothesis. Yanderine, as Lab Manager, determines whether it matches VDI’s actual operational priority after current-state validation.

Specimen Visibility

Connect kit identity, carrier tracking, receiving, accession and exception ownership.

Event-to-First-Submission

Measure how conference interest becomes approved clinics, usable samples and repeat activity.

Collection Access

Help pet parents locate participating clinics while preserving veterinarian authority.

Smoochie Care Signal

Test a safe groomer-to-owner-to-veterinarian observation pathway with explicit consent.

Recommended next step

Formal discovery before production commitments.

The first paid engagement should map the current state, inventory systems and instruments, establish baseline metrics, select the architecture, score the candidate pilots and define one bounded implementation with acceptance criteria.

Executive review

Private conversation and demonstration. No production commitment.

Discovery and blueprint

Interviews, observation, system inventory, metrics, architecture and pilot specification.

Bounded production pilot

One measurable workflow with named owners, security controls and explicit success criteria.
