How VDI LabOS would be designed, governed and delivered.
This manual is the implementation-depth layer behind the executive story. It describes the target operating model without representing unknown VDI internals as already validated.
Operating architecture
Fully specifiedA case spine connects clinic, order, kit, shipment, requisition, specimen, accession, work order, instrument or partner laboratory, raw result, normalized result, review, report and follow-up.
Canonical identity and events
Every important object receives stable identifiers, state transitions, provenance and append-only consequential-event receipts.
- No silent success
- Unknown integrations fail visibly
- Raw source remains immutable
- Derived and approved layers remain distinct
Integration strategy
Requires VDI accessAdapters should normalize carrier, scanner, printer, instrument, middleware, LIS/LIMS, report and partner-laboratory interfaces while retaining original source evidence.
Governed AI
Non-negotiableAI may retrieve, organize, summarize, compare, draft and propose. Authorized professionals retain control over acceptance, interpretation, report release and clinical communication.
Security and privacy
Use minimum necessary access, role-aware authorization, tenant and environment separation, encrypted transport and storage, explicit consent boundaries, redacted logs and auditable change control.
Delivery sequence
Proceed through discovery, baseline, architecture selection, bounded pilot, measured review and phased production—not an all-at-once replacement.
